 Mother Earth Designs, Inc began in 1995 in Arnold, MO by Karen Kowal, a Registered Nurse and Nationally Certified Massage Therapist. Karen was actively involved for 30 years in the field of nursing, then became a Massage Therapist in 1994. She had searched for natural products for her own use after dealing with personal chronic pain. As her practice grew after 1994, she began creating and developing more product designs for her clients, family and friends.
Using an old Singer Sewing machine in the basement, drying herbs from her own garden, the early years were spent creating consistent designs, finding quality raw materials and fabric that met the quality level she desired. As word spread, more folks came to ask for the 'Pillow-Lady' for products for not only pain but also for comfort and to reduce stress of everyday. Karen and her daughter Nicole worked for two years from her home. But eventually, the business grew and it was time to move to a commercial location. This location lasted for 9 years. In 2007, a new location was found for production and office space... and a separate Retail and Massage location was opened.

Today, Mother Earth Designs, Inc. headquarters and production area is located in Arnold MO in a 7000+ sq ft location. Our staff of 12 can help you with your questions or orders.
Not far from headquarters is Mother Earth Natural Solutions... a beautiful, relaxing 1000 sq ft Clinic and Retail space, filled with health products and two spacious Massage Therapy rooms and staffed with 4 Licensed Massage Therapists, all Nationally Certified. We specialize in treating the body, mind and soul with effective natural solutions for all ages.
A classroom is scheduled to open in the Fall of 2007 for community and professional classes. |
 Nicole McClain, Vice President of the company, is Karen's daughter, who runs the show while Karen treks across the country exhibiting at major medical, pain related, conferences and conventions.
Karen states enthusiastically, "I would not be able to do this if it were not for the help of Nicole! She has given so much of her time to keep Mother Earth running while raising her family". |
Our pillows are made using the natural bounty of Mother Earth using natural grains, herbs, spices and fabric. No synthetics have been used in our products. Our hand-crafted designs are created with love and joy by the staff of Mother Earth Designs, Inc. with your comfort in mind.
